BCDA EARNS MULTIPLE AWARDS FOR EXEMPLARY CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has once again proven its commitment to excellence, securing an “outstanding” rating in the 2023 Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) from the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG). This achievement reaffirms its status as one of the Philippines’ top-performing state firms.

For the ninth consecutive year, BCDA was recognized among the leading Government-Owned and -Controlled Corporations (GOCCs). Its streak of excellence was marked by four key distinctions, including: Top-performing GOCC for 2023, Recognition for sustainability values and practices, Certificates of Excellence for perfect scores in the Stakeholder Relationship and Disclosure and Transparency categories from 2021 to 2023.

With an impressive score of 100.52%, BCDA ranked fifth among the 14 highest-rated GOCCs for 2023. The CGS evaluates governance practices across various parameters, including stakeholder relations, transparency, and Board responsibilities, aligning with international governance standards.

The agency’s stellar performance was further validated by its Client Satisfaction Measurement, a requirement by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) and GCG. This assessment not only highlights BCDA’s achievements but also identifies areas for continuous improvement.

BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang credited the success to the entire organization, stating, “The honor of this award extends beyond me to the people of BCDA. Our continued recognition as a leader in corporate governance is both a proud achievement and a driving force for the agency to work even harder in serving our stakeholders with excellence.”

The awards were presented to BCDA leadership during the GCG Corporate Governance Scorecard for GOCCs Awarding Ceremony on November 25 at the Philippine International Convention Center. BCDA Chairperson Hilario B. Paredes, along with Directors Atty. Anthony Marvin Ponce de Leon, Gerard Seno, and Roberto Flores, joined President Bingcang in receiving the accolades.

The GCG’s recognition underscores BCDA’s significant contributions to national development, aligning with Republic Act No. 10149 or the “GOCC Governance Act of 2011.” By maintaining a strong commitment to good governance, BCDA sets a benchmark for state firms, ensuring sustainability and transparency in its operations.

This latest achievement reinforces BCDA’s leadership in corporate governance and its role in driving the country’s economic growth.
