BOC SEIZES ₱10.2 MILLION WORTH OF SHABU AT PORT OF CLARK

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) successfully intercepted a shipment containing Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, or “Shabu,” at the Port of Clark, following enhanced profiling and x-ray screening. The illegal drugs, concealed inside four aluminum tubes, weighed approximately 1,502.93 grams and had an estimated value of ₱10.219 million. The shipment, which came from the United States, was falsely declared as a “Black Vinyl Window Made Out of PVC.”

The shipment was flagged for inspection on January 19, 2025, after the BOC reviewed advance copies of documents. Upon arrival the following day, it underwent x-ray scanning, which revealed suspicious images. A physical inspection confirmed the presence of a black vinyl window with tempered glass, inside which the four aluminum tubes containing the suspected shabu were hidden.

The discovery was part of a joint operation involving the PDEA Regional Office III, PNP Aviation Security Unit General Aviation, PNP Drug Enforcement Group III, NBI Pampanga, and local Barangay Officials of Dau. This operation supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for a unified government approach to combat drug smuggling.

District Collector Jairus Reyes praised the successful operation, saying, “This operation demonstrates our commitment to securing our borders through heightened vigilance and close coordination with our partner agencies.”

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued for the shipment due to violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), specifically Section 118(g), Section 119(d), and Section 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l), in relation to Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Under the leadership of Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the BOC remains focused on preventing smuggling and strengthening border security. Commissioner Rubio reiterated, “The BOC is committed to fighting smuggling and enhancing border security to protect the nation and its citizens from the dangers of illicit substances.”
