The award shows the effective and honest management of the province in delivering services to the Bulakenyos.

Bulacan received P4 million pesos worth of SGLG Incentive Fund Subsidy that can be used for high-impact projects in the province.

According to Governor Daniel Fernando, the recognition is a reflection of the collective commitment to effective management, development, and service excellence.

Fernando also recognized the efforts of SGLG in motivating and challenging local governments to meet the standards that result in more productive and progressive administration that will benefit their respective constituents.

Among the 493 local governments that passed the criteria for the 2023 SGLG award are the municipalities of Angat, Balagtas, Bulakan, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Guiguinto, Marilao, Pandi, Pulilan, and Santa Maria; and Baliwag City, each of which received an SGLG Incentive Fund Subsidy worth P1.8 million pesos.

DILG Secretary and Council of Good Local Governance (CGLG) Chair Benjamin C. Abalos Jr. challenged local government units across the country to implement more effective governance.

In order for a province, town or city to qualify for the SGLG award, LGUs are required to pass the assessment criteria for various governance areas including financial administration; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture, and the arts; and youth development.
