In a vibrant celebration of Flores de Mayo, the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO), in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Council of Bulacan, held “Bulaklakan: Harana at Bulaklak Para Kay Maria” last May 23 at Vista Mall Malolos.
This annual tradition pays tribute to the Blessed Virgin Mary through floral offerings and heartfelt music. Highlights included a serenade by the Hiyas ng Bulacan Provincial Band and a “sagala” procession at the Level 2 Mall Atrium. A ceremonial hanging of flower garlands on the image of the Blessed Mother was led by Provincial Administrator Antonia V. Constantino, followed by the offering of flowers and rosary led by Winrose Cruz on behalf of Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro, and the floral crowning led by Crispin De Luna, representing Governor Daniel R. Fernando.
In his message, delivered by De Luna, Governor Fernando emphasized the cultural and spiritual importance of the event. “Bulacan once again brings to life a tradition rooted in our very own town of Bulakan. This proves how deeply connected our culture and faith are. The devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary lives on in every Bulakenyo’s heart.”
He added, “On behalf of the Provincial Government of Bulacan, I warmly greet everyone participating in this meaningful celebration of Bulaklakan 2025. As a father of the province, occasions like this are close to my heart. Every flower and rosary offered is a reflection of our deep faith, especially in times of hardship. Like our beloved Mother, may we remain steadfast and become light and hope for one another.”
“Bulaklakan: Harana at Bulaklak Para Kay Maria” stands as a beautiful testament to the enduring devotion of the Bulakenyo people. Through music, prayer, and cultural tradition, it continues to strengthen community ties and honor the spiritual heritage of the province.
