Intricately designed lanterns with lace patterns once again lit up the streets of Angeles Cityโ€™s Heritage District in Barangay Sto. Rosario last December 17, with the staging of Lubenas Ning Pasku .

The Lubenas ning Pasku or the Novena of Christmas depicts the religious and cultural traditions of Angeleรฑos, in celebration of the Yuletide Season.

This Angeles City tradition dates back to the 1800s when Spanish missionaries introduced the practice of making lanterns to Kapampangan.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo โ€˜Pogiโ€™ Lazatin Jr. said that it was good to see these lanterns back in the streets of Angeles City as they serve as beacons of hope to the undying spirit of the Angeleรฑos to rise above any adversities.

The mayor reminds Angeleรฑos to put forth hope, love and concern for others.

The event was organized by the Barangay Sto. Rosario Council, headed by Punong Barangay Renato Cosme, and Committee on Cultural and Tourism Kagawad Joana Joy Flores.
