MABALACAT CITY TRIUMPHS IN FIRST INTER-TOWN CHORAL COMPETITION

In a display of extraordinary talent and cultural pride, Mabalacat City secured the top prize in the inaugural Inter-Town Choral Competition, held during the 453rd Aldo ning Kapampangan celebration on December 9.

The competition, a highlight of the week-long festivities, featured choirs from nine municipalities performing beloved Kapampangan Christmas songs and holiday classics. Each performance dazzled the audience with impeccable vocals, intricate choreography, and festive costumes, showcasing the depth of Kapampangan artistry.

Board Member Atty. Ananias Canlas Jr., Chairman of the 453rd Aldo ning Kapampangan committee, led the awarding ceremonies on behalf of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda. Canlas commended the participants for their dedication to elevating Kapampangan music and culture, emphasizing the provincial government’s commitment to supporting local talent.

“Today, we celebrate the unique gifts of the Kapampangans in music and the performing arts,” Canlas said. “On behalf of Governor Delta and the entire provincial leadership, we thank all the participants for making this celebration of the 453rd Aldo ning Kapampangan meaningful and memorable.”

Mabalacat City shone brightest, winning not only the overall title but also the “Best in Kapampangan Song” and “Best in Choreography” awards. Magalang claimed second place with its visually stunning presentation, earning the “Best in Costume” recognition. Sto. Tomas rounded out the top three, with its soloist delivering a heartfelt performance that captivated the audience.

Trophies and cash prizes of up to ₱70,000 were awarded to the winners, while other participating local government units received consolation prizes, courtesy of the Nanay Partylist.

The success of the event underscored the province’s rich cultural heritage and the vibrant spirit of the Kapampangan people, setting a high standard for future celebrations.
