Mayor Susan A. Yap assured her constituents she will exhaust all legal remedies to contest the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ruling disqualifying her over residency issues.
In a statement released Thursday, Yap said the issue has already been decided in her favor by the COMELEC on April 14, 2025, which upheld her residency in Tarlac City before the elections.

In its latest update on petitions and cases related to the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) as of October 23, 2025, COMELEC stated that the motion for reconsideration was granted, resulting in the annulment of Yap’s proclamation as mayor. COMELEC further noted that the rule on succession under Section 44 of the Local Government Code shall apply following the decision.
The mayor expressed gratitude to Tarlaqueños for their continued trust and assured them of her unwavering dedication.
As of this writing, COMELEC has yet to release the official copy of the full decision to the public.
