MPTC STRENGTHENS COMMITMENT TO SAFER ROADS FOR CHILDREN  

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is taking its mission to heart: creating safer roads and nurturing a brighter future for the next generation. With a steadfast focus on child rights and road safety, MPTC continues to champion sustainability and inclusivity through its tollway operations.

Cynthia Casino, Chief Corporate Governance and Head of Sustainability. “By uniting with socio-civic organizations and private partners, we aim to ensure that children’s rights are upheld and that they have the opportunity to thrive in a secure and nurturing environment.”  

𝐸𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑁𝑒𝑥𝑡 𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛  

Through its business units — NLEX, MPT South, CCLEC, and MPT Mobility — MPTC has launched impactful educational programs tailored to teach children the importance of road safety:  

📍 NLEX Corporation  introduced “Ang Bida ng Kalsada,” a vibrant picture book that shares engaging stories about responsible road use. Distributed to 2,000 Grades 3-6 students in 20 public schools, this initiative sparks conversations on safety and responsibility.  

📍 MPT South rolled out an updated version of “Bayani ng Kalsada” (Bayani Ka) to help children understand road signs and safe practices. Over 1,000 students have benefited, with 420 copies donated to libraries, schools, and institutions.  

𝐿𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑃𝑎𝑡ℎ 𝑜𝑛 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛’𝑠 𝐷𝑎𝑦  

On  November 20 , MPTC illuminated key structures in blue to mark  World Children’s Day  and reaffirm its dedication to safer roads. Iconic locations like  NLEX Balintawak Headquarters ,  NLEX Drive and Dine ,  MPT South’s LEED Gold-Certified South Hub , and the  Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway  stood as glowing symbols of hope and commitment. Complementing these efforts, digital billboards across MPTC’s expressway network featured messages promoting child safety, amplified through online platforms.  

𝑅𝑎𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑟 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑅𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠  

In 2024, MPTC deepened its advocacy by embedding  Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBP)  into its operations. Collaborating with the  Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) , MPTC hosted a four-day workshop with representatives from PLDT and Smart Communications. Looking ahead, the company is set to conduct a  Child Rights Impact Assessment (CRIA)  in 2025, strengthening its role as a leader in corporate responsibility.

MPTC’s road safety initiatives have garnered accolades from esteemed organizations, including the  Department of Health’s Healthy Pilipinas Gold Award , the  Asia CEO Awards , and the  ESG Business Awards 2024 .  

By blending innovation, education, and advocacy, MPTC is not only building roads but paving the way for a safer, brighter, and more empowered future for Filipino children.
