Senator Win Gatchalian visited last Friday storm-hit communities in Aurora as the province prepares for more typhoons in the coming weeks, distributing cash and food assistance to families still recovering from the impact of recent weather disturbances. Aurora was among the areas hardest hit by Super Typhoon Uwan, which left thousands of households grappling with losses and ongoing rehabilitation needs.
Gatchalian stressed the importance of sustained support for affected communities, especially with PAGASA’s reminder that additional weather systems may affect the country before year-end. “Sana ay magpatuloy at lalo pang tumibay ang mga rehabilitasyon at pagbangon ng mga biktima ng bagyo. Nandito lang tayo para tuloy-tuloy nating matulungan ang mga nasalanta sa kanilang pagbangon,” he said.
In partnership with Valenzuela City, the senator—along with Valenzuela Councilors Mickey Pineda and Nina Lopez—distributed ₱1.9 million in cash assistance and ₱2.193 million worth of rice to families in Casiguran, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Dingalan, San Luis, Dinalungan, and Baler. According to data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, 40,392 families in Aurora were adversely affected by the recent super typhoon.
PAGASA added that the shear line—where warm and cold air masses converge to form rain-bearing clouds—may continue to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and isolated thunderstorms over parts of Luzon, including Aurora, in the days ahead.
