The newly opened transfer station in Angeles City began operations on February 12, 2025, aimed at improving garbage collection and sanitation across the city.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. emphasized that the facility would greatly enhance waste management efficiency, reduce garbage accumulation on major roads, and help maintain cleaner streets throughout the city.
Initially, waste collected from major roads will be brought to the transfer station, with plans to gradually expand its use to include Barangay Capaya. Each week, one additional barangay will be added, with all 33 barangays eventually using the facility.
“With this new system, a single garbage truck can make up to four rounds in one barangay, preventing garbage buildup and ensuring cleaner streets,” Mayor Lazatin said.
“This is just the beginning. As we expand the system to more barangays, we are confident that Angeles City will set the standard for efficient urban waste management,” he added.
Environmental Management System Officer-in-Charge Francis Pangilinan highlighted the operational advantages of the transfer station, noting that its strategic location reduces the time and distance garbage trucks need to travel, allowing them to make multiple rounds per day.
“This not only speeds up the collection process but also increases the overall efficiency of our waste management,” Pangilinan explained. The transfer station also enforces the “No Segregation, No Collection” policy, promoting better waste separation.
Pangilinan further pointed out that the facility would lower fuel costs and reduce wear and tear on garbage trucks, maximizing the city’s resources.
“It’s a sustainable solution that boosts productivity and ensures timely waste disposal,” he added.
As Mayor Lazatin has always prioritized, this initiative is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy, and hygienic environment for the residents of Angeles City.
The transfer station, which was officially inaugurated in December 2024, is expected to significantly improve cleanliness while promoting better waste segregation and disposal practices—key programs of Mayor Lazatin’s administration.
