The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) convened an interagency meeting on March 3, 2026 at CIDG Headquarters in Camp Crame to intensify efforts against illegal gambling in professional sports and amusement games.

The meeting was led by CIDG Director Robert AA Morico II and GAB Chairman Francisco J. Rivera, focusing on strengthening coordination to dismantle illegal bookie operations and organized gambling networks nationwide.

Officials emphasized the need for seamless collaboration between regulation and enforcement. While GAB oversees monitoring, industry regulation, and intelligence gathering, CIDG ensures ground-level operations and law enforcement action—closing any gap between detection and arrest.

The agencies refined operational protocols and coordination mechanisms to support a more aggressive and sustained nationwide campaign. CIDG reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against illegal gambling, stressing that such activities undermine the rule of law, deprive the government of revenue, and threaten the integrity of professional sports.

Both agencies affirmed their shared commitment to protect athletes, safeguard fair competition, and uphold public trust in the country’s sports and gaming industry.
