Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a one-storey multipurpose building at barangay Pula in General Mamerto Natividad, Nueva Ecija.
With the population of the village steadily growing from 162 in 1990 to 731 in 2020, the demand for improved barangay facilities is vital as the residents have been longing to have a facility that can accommodate their concerns.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad explained that the building incorporated a mezzanine level to optimize the use of available space in order to provide additional room for various activities all within a compact footprint.
βThe mezzanine-type design encourages community engagement and interaction. The open spaces and flexible layout will foster a sense of togetherness, creating a welcoming environment for residents to connect and collaborate,β he underscored.
Additionally, the two-room building was designed with accessibility features in compliance with Batas Pambansa Bilang 344 (Accessibility Law), to ensure that community activities are inclusive and open to people with diverse needs including those with disabilities and restricted movements.
The project, amounting to P4.8 million, was part of the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program and funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023. (PIA 3)
