The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has unveiled a new solar-powered water system in Angat, Bulacan, marking a significant step towards sustainability and eco-friendly development.

The initiative aims to provide residents with a reliable and environmentally friendly source of clean drinking water.

George Santos, DPWH Bulacan 2nd District Engineer, highlighted that the solar-powered system uses rooftop solar panels to run the entire setup, further promoting renewable energy.

โ€œThe project enhances water accessibility while ensuring that the water undergoes a thorough purification process, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. It also contributes to lowering the carbon footprint and serves as a model for future sustainable projects in line with national goals,โ€ Santos explained.

The facility covers 168 square meters and is equipped with 45 solar panels and six overhead water tanks, with a total capacity of 12,000 liters, ensuring a continuous supply of potable water.

The P9.8-million project, funded under the 2023 national budget, underscores the DPWH’s dedication to improving public health and supporting the communityโ€™s development through sustainable solutions. (PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
