The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 3 convened its first Regional Local Price Coordinating Councils (LPCCs) and Consumer Organizations’ Summit to strengthen collaboration in ensuring consumer protection and price stability in Central Luzon.
Held under the theme “One Region, One Action: Unity in Consumer Protection,” the summit gathered LPCCs, local government representatives, consumer organizations, and partner stakeholders.
The event featured sessions on the composition and functions of LPCCs, price and supply analysis, price control strategies during emergencies, price index monitoring, the Philippine Competition Act, and best practices from selected LPCCs and local governments.

Resource speakers included Atty. Merriel G. Aviles and Ms. Marielle Ann Villegas of the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau, Ms. Arlene Torrico of the Philippine Statistics Authority, and Atty. Maria Graciella Dela Paz-Malapit of the Department of Justice. DTI Nueva Ecija and the Provincial Government of Bataan also shared their price monitoring initiatives, including Bataan’s Provincial Online Price Monitoring System.
In her message, DTI Region 3 Director Edna D. Dizon underscored the importance of unity and coordination in protecting consumers. “Our duty is to ensure price stability and protect consumers, especially during times of crisis. By strengthening our LPCCs and fostering partnerships, we empower our communities to build a fair and resilient marketplace,” she said.
The summit reaffirmed DTI-3’s commitment to work with local governments, consumer groups, and stakeholders in safeguarding consumer rights and promoting stable, fair markets across the region.
