A Filipino executive has brought pride to the country after being selected as one of the torchbearers for the 25th Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, Italy.

Raymond Li, regional general manager of Uber for Southern, Central, and Eastern Europe, carried the Olympic torch during the Morbegno leg of the relay on February 1.

Li was among 24 torchbearers who participated in the relay segment held in Morbegno, a town in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy. The event was attended by local officials, Alpine troops, community groups, and thousands of residents.

The Philippine Consulate General in Milan, led by Consul General Jim Tito San Agustin, congratulated Li for representing the Philippines and promoting a positive image of the country during the Winter Olympic Games.

The Olympic flame journey began in Olympia, Greece on November 26, 2025, and has traveled more than 12,000 kilometers across Italy through over 10,000 torchbearers.

The 25th Winter Olympics gathered more than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries, including the Philippines.

The country is represented by Alpine skiers Francis Ceccarelli and Tallulah Proulx, who will compete in the giant slalom and slalom events.

The Philippines first participated in the Winter Olympics in 1972 in Sapporo, Japan, and continues to aim for its first medal in the Winter Games.
