30,500 families affected by Mayon ashfall, OCD reports

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Monday that ashfall from Mayon Volcano has affected 30,522 families, or about 102,406 individuals, across 87 barangays in the Bicol Region.

Based on data from OCD Region 5, at least 1,438 families are currently staying in evacuation centers, while others are receiving assistance outside evacuation sites.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to distribute family food packs and essential aid to displaced residents, particularly in Albay, where evacuation and relief operations remain ongoing.

OCD officials said local government units and national agencies are coordinating closely to ensure continuous delivery of basic needs, including food, water, and protective supplies for affected communities.

Authorities also highlighted ongoing support operations such as water truck deployment, distribution of N95 masks and relief items, water filtration systems, and road clearing efforts to maintain accessibility in affected areas.

Office of Civil Defense reminded the public that Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3 and urged residents to strictly follow safety advisories, including staying away from the six-kilometer permanent danger zone.
