Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., joined the simulation exercise (SimEx) on active shooter and anti-criminality action plan at Systems Plus College Foundation on Wednesday, August 3.
Together with Angeles City Police Office, headed by PCol. Diosdado Fabian, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon also led the simulation exercise.
Lazatin wants to to ensure the students’ safety against crimes and emergencies in the school premises, especially now that the start of classes is just around the corner.
The city government in coordination with all the schools, is set to conduct drills in all elementary, high school, colleges, and universities this August, maintaining schools as safe spaces for the children.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office, headed by Edna Duaso, was also tasked by Mayor Lazatin to hold a stress debriefing after the drills to prevent possible trauma on children.
Further, the disaster personnel, law enforcers, and social workers will also receive much additional trainings to equip them with necessary skills and needed logistics.
Mayor Lazatin announced this crime prevention program during his inaugural speech for his second term, delivering this as part of his flagship programs. (Angeles CIO)
