Opening a first bank account is now easier with BDO Unibank’s Basic Account, which customers can apply for through the BDO Pay app using a driver’s license or passport.
The digital application process requires no initial deposit, maintaining balance, or lengthy paperwork, allowing first-time account holders to start banking directly from their smartphones.
To apply, users need to download BDO Pay, select “Open a Basic Account,” scan their valid ID, take a selfie, and submit their personal details for verification. Once approved, the account is ready for use.
Linked to BDO Pay, the account allows users to pay through QRPh, transfer money to other banks and e-wallets for free, and settle bills with more than 2,200 billers without fees. Users can also split bills, request money, and access exclusive deals and rewards. A physical card is available upon request for free withdrawals at BDO ATMs.
Account holders can also access their funds through BDO’s network of more than 5,000 ATMs and cash deposit machines nationwide.
Meanwhile, BDO Pay is offering referral incentives from Oct. 1, 2026, to Jan. 31, 2027. Existing users can earn ₱100 in cash credits for every successful referral, while referred friends receive ₱50 in cash credits upon signing up with a referral code. Users can earn up to ₱1,000 in incentives during the promotional period.
