Mayor Carmelo β€œPogi” Lazatin Jr. on July 24, 2023 has activated the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to prepare for emergencies as Typhoon Egay traverses the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Mayor Lazatin also instructed key offices to monitor the situation, ensuring the readiness of the Angeles City government in any emergency.

This was revealed during an emergency disaster council meeting led by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguason last July 24.

Angeles City Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon says the medical rescue teams, vehicles and equipment for emergencies are ready in the event the typhoon ravages Luzon.

Meanwhile, the City Engineer’s Office, headed by Engr. Donato Dizon, will also form roving teams to immediately clear roads from obstructions.

Furthermore, the six Barangay Rural Health Units and 28 Sub-Health Centers will also be open to provide immediate health needs for AngeleΓ±os while Typhoon Egay is inside PAR.

All of these centers have readily available medicines regularly supplied by the city government.

Mayor Lazatin has declared that a food stockpile is readily available at the City Social Welfare and Development Office. This was also assured by CSWDO Officer Edna Duaso.

β€œNakahanda po ang ating food assistance sa CSWDO. We have already instructed the CSWDO to be ready in any case of assistance at the ground level,” Lazatin said.

Apart from the food assistance, necessary supplies such as hygiene kits, blankets, and mats have also been prepared by the CSWDO.
