Amid talks of se4veral voters being given P500 in his barangay since the campaign period started, Balibago Barangay Captain Rodelio โ€œTonyโ€ Mamac urged his constituents not to be โ€œblindedโ€ by vote buying.

Without disclosing his source, Mamac, who is seeking re-election, said that the alleged vote-buying, which is prohibited under the rules of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), is being done in Barangay Amsic.

Mamac is running only against former Angeles City Councilor Joseph โ€œPGโ€ Ponce.

โ€œOur constituents were brought to Amsic and some of them did not know they would be paid there,โ€ Mamac said in an interview.

โ€œWe never resorted to vote-buying ever since we became leader of Balibago,โ€ said.

Mamac, Mamac, who has been the village chief since 2007, expressed confidence that his constituents would be โ€œwise voters just like in the past.โ€

โ€œWe always resorted to good governance and efficient delivery of services. I know they will choose this,โ€ he added.

Mamac said Balibago has been top in several aspects, including crime prevention, child care and the handling of the โ€œLupon Tagamayapa.โ€

His battle cry is โ€œgawin ang tama (do what is right.)

Asked to describe his battle against Ponce, Mamac said โ€œall battles are difficult and we should never be complacent.โ€

โ€œBut this is my โ€˜lightestโ€™ fight compared to the previous elections,โ€ he added.
