To help ease congestion and improve road safety, NLEX Corporation and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have installed modern, sensor-based traffic signal lights at intersections along the NLEX Connector in C3, Caloocan, España, and Magsaysay Boulevards in Manila.
In a formal turnover ceremony, NLEX handed over the newly installed infrastructure to MMDA, with officials from MMDA, DPWH, local government units, and other partner agencies in attendance.
The project features adaptive signal systems equipped with vehicle-detecting sensors, replacing traditional timer-based lights. These systems are paired with improved lane markings and road signages to help streamline both vehicle flow and pedestrian safety.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to easing congestion and improving the mobility experience for all,” said MPTC Chief Regulatory Officer Arrey Perez.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes commended the partnership, stating it serves as a model of collaboration between public and private sectors to create a “safer, smarter, and more efficient road network.”
The NLEX Connector is part of the toll road network operated by NLEX Corporation, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC).
