Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon met with Grab executives in Singapore to explore affordable and efficient commuting solutions in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to create a commuter-friendly transport system.
During the visit, Grab presented its upcoming carpool and ride-sharing system, designed to carry more passengers per trip by offering multiple pick-up and drop-off points. The service aims to reduce single-passenger vehicle use, ease road congestion, and provide commuters with more affordable and reliable travel options.
The pilot run of the Grab carpool service is set to launch in the Philippines before the end of 2025, focusing on key locations during peak hours with guaranteed departures.
“President Marcos has stressed the need to move as many commuters as possible. This system from Grab is one of the ways we can achieve that goal,” Sec. Dizon said. He also thanked Grab for offering solutions that ensure comfort, safety, and convenience for Filipino commuters.
Grab also introduced GrabMaps-Pioneer, a multi-modal mapping tool that uses crowdsourced data from cameras and high-definition vehicle sensors to improve navigation for partner drivers.
“Grab PH remains committed to working with the DOTr to provide comfortable, efficient, and time-saving transport solutions for Filipinos,” said Grab Philippines Managing Director Ronald Roda.
