President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has signed into law Republic Act No. 12237, also known as the Mt. Sawtooth Protected Landscape Act, officially declaring 12,676 hectares of land in the municipalities of Mayantoc and San Jose, Tarlac as a protected area under the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS).

The measure, which was earlier championed in Congress by former representatives Noel “Bong” Rivera and Jaime Cojuangco, aims to safeguard the environment, preserve native flora, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources for present and future generations.
Local leaders expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who supported the passage of the law, hailing it as a vital step toward conservation and sustainable development in Tarlac.
