Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, in his first flag-raising ceremony as the agency’s chief on Monday, September 8, called on employees to help him restore integrity and public trust in the department.

Speaking at the DPWH Central Office, Dizon acknowledged the presence of corrupt individuals within the agency but stressed that the majority of its workforce remains honest and dedicated.

“Let us not allow a few bad eggs to destroy this entire institution and the country,” he said. “I believe that the vast majority of you are good, honest, hardworking, and loyal government workers of this country… we have to save DPWH.”

Dizon urged employees to support his efforts, along with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., to hold accountable those involved in irregularities and to rebuild the agency’s credibility.

“Help me. Help the President. We know there are bad elements here. Help me remove them,” Dizon appealed.

The new secretary emphasized that reforms and collective action are crucial to protecting the DPWH’s role in nation-building.
