PRC, DPWH JOIN RELIEF OPS IN CEBU

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Department of Public Works and Highways joined relief efforts for earthquake-hit communities in northern Cebu to oversee response operations and extend support to affected residents.

PRC Chairman Richard Gordon, Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang, with DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon and Undersecretary Arrey Perez began the visit in Bogo City where they set up the tent city, held an interagency meeting, and coordinated relief initiatives.

In Medellin, the PRC distributed water and hot meals to families in Barangay Luy-a, while the DOT provided assistance to frontline tourism officers at the Medellin Tourist Rest Area. The officials also visited the tent city and St. Ignatius Church to assess conditions of displaced residents and cultural sites.

The team proceeded to San Remigio, where the PRC continued food and water distribution in Barangay Mano and inspected damaged houses.

The Department of Tourism, led by Secretary Christina Frasco, also extended aid to tourism frontliners at the San Remigio tent city. The group further visited San Jose Nepomuceno Church before returning to Bogo for a hospital visit at the Cebu Provincial Hospital.

Authorities said the coordinated relief operations were part of ongoing efforts to deliver immediate assistance to affected families and restore essential services in quake-hit areas.
