Embassy of Israel joins Shalom Club Nueva Ecija for annual holiday outreach

The Embassy of Israel in Manila joined the Shalom Club Nueva Ecija Chapter in its annual holiday outreach, “Ngayong Pasko, Salo Tayo,” bringing Christmas cheer and simple meals to children from public schools and indigenous communities across Nueva Ecija.

The initiative was supported by the Makati Medical Center Foundation, which provided toys and hygiene kits, and the Nueva Ecija Seed-Grower Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Deputy Ambassador Ester Buzgan personally visited the province for the turnover of donations and joined activities with the children. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Jollibee mascot entertained students with dances and interactive games.

This year’s beneficiaries were the 157 pupils of Mabini Elementary School in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija. Though a small school, its teachers and staff continue to foster a nurturing and child-friendly learning environment. The celebration was held in the schoolyard and covered court, drawing participation from the local community.

In her message, Deputy Ambassador Buzgan thanked all partners for helping make education brighter and reaffirmed that children deserve a better future. She also recognized the role of farmers in the community, saying, “The farmers are our heroes. They work tirelessly to feed our communities and help our children grow strong.”

She likened children to seedlings that need care and the right tools to thrive, noting that this belief inspired the Embassy’s donation of a television, sound system, and projector to enhance classroom learning. She concluded her remarks by thanking the community, saying, “Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. This is all for you.”

Deputy Ambassador Buzgan led the distribution of gifts with Municipal Administrator and former Mayor Imee de Guzman and Shalom Club–Nueva Ecija Chapter President Lorna Mae Vero. Food, toys, school supplies, hygiene kits, and educational equipment were shared with the students.

The activity highlighted how diplomacy extends beyond formal settings, expressed through shared meals, children’s laughter, and acts of generosity. Through the outreach, the Embassy of Israel reaffirmed its commitment to friendship, community partnership, and hope during the holiday season.
