Mayon Volcano recorded two volcanic earthquakes, 72 rockfall events, and 100 pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) as of January 9, 2026, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

PHIVOLCS said the pyroclastic flows traveled up to two kilometers along the Mi-isi Gully, and up to 1.5 kilometers along the Bonga and Basud gullies.

The volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating heightened volcanic unrest and the possibility of hazardous eruptions.

Authorities continue to strictly enforce the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), where all human activities—including mountain climbing, farming, and plant gathering—are prohibited. A no-fly zone over the volcano also remains in effect.

As part of safety measures, ATV operations at the Cagsawa Ruins have been limited, while tourist visits to the Mayon Skyline have been temporarily suspended.
