Technical divers of the Philippine Coast Guard underwent hyperbaric oxygen therapy on February 13, 2026, as part of standard post-dive medical protocol following 16 days of extended underwater search and rescue operations.
The procedure was conducted to help ensure the health and safety of the technical divers after prolonged diving activities supporting ongoing search and rescue missions in Basilan.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a medically supervised precautionary treatment that helps prevent and manage possible diving-related conditions, including decompression sickness.
PCG spokesperson Noemie Cayabyab emphasized that personnel welfare remains a top priority, noting that all diving operations strictly follow established safety standards, with mandatory medical evaluations conducted before and after missions.
She added that the Technical Diving Group continues to maintain operational readiness while upholding high standards of safety and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
The PCG said dive operations are set to resume on February 14, 2026. As of the latest report, the total number of fatalities stands at 53, with 293 survivors and 26 individuals still reported missing.
