DPWH, key sectors ink pact to boost transparency in public works

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) formalized a strengthened transparency drive through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Caritas Philippines, and Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG).

The agreement reinforces a whole-of-society approach to ensure closer monitoring of public funds and infrastructure projects nationwide.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the partnership reflects the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who instructed DPWH to work closely with various sectors to strengthen transparency and accountability in government projects.

“We need to ensure that every peso, every centavo of the people’s money goes to them and not kung saan-saan na nakita na natin. We still need to police and monitor the people’s money,” Dizon said following the signing ceremony.

Under the memorandum, DPWH and its partner organizations will intensify transparency measures and encourage citizen participation in monitoring infrastructure projects. The collaboration aims to safeguard public funds, promote accountability, and help restore public trust in government spending.

Officials emphasized that the initiative marks a concrete step toward participatory governance, ensuring that infrastructure development directly benefits communities while remaining subject to vigilant oversight.
