DTI Zambales destroys ₱66,000 worth of uncertified steel wires

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, through its Consumer Protection Division, led the destruction of 48 rolls of confiscated uncertified Low Carbon Steel Wires worth ₱66,000 in Masinloc, Zambales.

The items were seized during the agency’s Provincial Enforcement Operations in August 2025. Low Carbon Steel Wires are covered under DTI’s mandatory product certification scheme, underscoring the need for strict compliance with established safety and quality standards.

DTI said it has intensified monitoring and enforcement efforts, including inspections of retail establishments and the issuance of notices of violation, to curb the proliferation of uncertified products in the market.

The agency reiterated its commitment to public safety and consumer protection through the confiscation and destruction of non-compliant products. It also urged consumers to remain vigilant and purchase only certified items to prevent risks to structural integrity and potential accidents.

The operation was conducted under Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 (Central Luzon).
