Kapampangan designer Marlon C. Tuazon is once again stepping into the spotlight as he presents his latest collection at Kariktan, fresh from receiving his second Pupul Ning Banua Award for Fashion and Beauty from Angeles City.
A leading name in contemporary Philippine fashion, Tuazon continues to bring the elegance of the terno into modern design. For Kariktan, his MCT Couture collection revisits the refined glamour of the 1950s, a period that gave rise to the “new look” of the terno after the war. The pieces highlight the iconic “tarik” or butterfly sleeves, reimagined for contemporary fashion while honoring the women who helped rebuild the nation in the post-war years.

The collection also draws inspiration from the fashionable Kapampangan women of the past—those who made the effort to dress with grace whether attending church, social gatherings, or even the local market. Through these designs, Tuazon hopes to revive the regal bearing long associated with Kapampangan women, bringing that timeless elegance back into the modern fashion landscape.
Tuazon’s recognition as a two-time Pupul Ning Banua awardee adds another milestone to an already distinguished career. In 2018, he made history as the first Double Gold winner of BENCH #TernoCon, a distinction that remains unmatched. His modern terno creations have also been exhibited internationally in New York City and Milan, reflecting his growing influence in global fashion.
His work has continued to gain recognition over the years. In 2023, his collection was featured at Rampa Manila, where he received the Ceremonial Key to the City of Manila and was named “Asia’s Most Promising Fashion Designer” by the Pinnacle Awards. Most recently, his native habi collection was showcased at Expo 2025 Osaka in June 2025.
With his latest Kariktan presentation, Tuazon once again affirms his role as one of the foremost designers championing the evolution of the Filipino terno, blending heritage, craftsmanship, and modern elegance on the runway.
