Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap on Monday led a recognition ceremony for sisters Aira Lopez and Alou Lopez following their strong finish at the Ironman 70.3, where they secured qualifying slots for the Ironman 70.3 France set in September 2026.

The Lopez sisters impressed in the grueling race that combines a 1.9-kilometer swim, 90-kilometer bike ride, and 21.1-kilometer run, showcasing endurance, discipline, and consistency against a competitive field of local and international athletes.

Their qualification for the France leg marks a significant milestone, as Ironman 70.3 events serve as global platforms for elite and rising triathletes, with limited slots awarded only to top performers in each category.

Mayor Yap praised the sisters for bringing pride to Tarlac City and inspiring fellow Tarlaqueños through their dedication to the sport.

The recognition ceremony highlighted the city government’s continued support for local athletes who excel on the national and international stage, underscoring the values of perseverance, hard work, and community pride.
