President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday led the opening of a new segment of the Cavite–Laguna Expressway, highlighting improved mobility and reduced travel time across South Luzon.
The newly completed 7.88-kilometer Subsection 3 extends CALAX to the Governor’s Drive Interchange in General Trias. It cuts travel time between Biñan and General Trias to about 26 minutes, significantly down from the previous one-hour trip.
Marcos noted that the project took a decade to complete, citing right-of-way challenges as a major hurdle. He welcomed its completion, saying motorists can now benefit from faster and more convenient travel.

The President also announced that the new segment will be toll-free for one month starting midnight of its opening day, encouraging the public to maximize its use and experience the improved road network.
The additional stretch is expected to serve around 6,000 motorists daily, offering an alternative route that helps decongest local roads in Cavite.
With the opening of Subsection 3, CALAX now has an operational length of 26 kilometers from Mamplasan in Biñan. Once fully completed, the 44.6-kilometer expressway will connect the Manila–Cavite Expressway to the South Luzon Expressway, forming a vital transport corridor in the region.
Marcos also thanked private sector partners, including the Metro Pacific group, for their role in advancing the infrastructure project, expressing confidence that it will deliver lasting convenience to motorists.
