The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy 9,533 police officers across Metro Manila to secure the “White Ribbon Movement” march at the EDSA People Power Monument on June 28.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and concerned regional units have been directed to conduct comprehensive security assessments around the rally site and nearby critical infrastructure while ensuring the peaceful conduct of the activity.
Nartatez emphasized that the PNP remains apolitical and will focus on maintaining public order, exercising maximum tolerance, and implementing traffic management and civil disturbance protocols to minimize disruption to commuters and nearby businesses.
The NCRPO clarified that the deployment is a proactive security measure and that there is no existing threat related to the event.
The nationwide march, organized by the Interreligious Leaders Council for National Transformation and various civil society groups, aims to push for electoral reforms, stronger government accountability, and action against corruption and political dynasties.
The Eastern Police District also placed personnel around the EDSA Shrine and designated additional reactionary support forces in Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan to respond to any contingency.
The PNP assured participants and the public that all deployed personnel have been instructed to uphold human rights and observe maximum tolerance while safeguarding the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
