Three reticulated pythons were safely rescued and turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) following reports of snakes found in separate residences in Barangays Tabun, Pulungbulo, and Pulung Maragul.
Personnel from the Angeles City Veterinary Office and City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), along with barangay officials, responded to the reports and secured the reptiles for proper handling and assessment.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the Angeles City government coordinated with the DENR Conservation and Development Division for the wildlife assessment and disposition.
The three pythons were found healthy and unharmed and were brought to a wildlife rescue center in Clark, Pampanga, for care, rehabilitation, and monitoring.
Pablo commended the barangay officials and city personnel for their prompt response, stressing that timely reporting and proper coordination help protect both communities and wildlife.
The reticulated python, while classified as ‘Least Concern’ under the IUCN Red List, remains protected under Republic Act No. 9147, or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.
The DENR urged the public to immediately report encounters with wild animals to local authorities or the nearest DENR office to ensure appropriate response and safe handling.
