The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is stepping up its sustainable development efforts in New Clark City through reforestation and livelihood support for the Ayta community.

BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang said the development of New Clark City goes beyond infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and inclusive community development.

Through its latest tree-planting activity, BCDA planted 506 native tree saplings with support from Pag-IBIG Fund, Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, and Ayta community members, bringing its 2026 total to 1,500 trees—or 75 percent of its 2,000-tree target.

The native species were selected for their role in protecting biodiversity, stabilizing soil, preventing erosion, sequestering carbon, and expanding green spaces near waterways.

Alongside the reforestation effort, BCDA distributed 20 sacks of fertilizer to Ayta farmers from Sitio Sapang Kawayan in Capas, Tarlac, to help boost farm productivity, lower production costs, and support livelihoods ahead of the next planting season.

“Strong communities are built when development creates opportunities for everyone, Bingcang said, noting that supporting partner farmers helps strengthen local livelihoods while promoting environmental stewardship.

The initiatives form part of BCDA’s continuing efforts to develop New Clark City as a smart, green, and resilient metropolis** while creating sustainable opportunities for surrounding communities.
