Police Brig. Gen. Jose Manalad Jr., chief of the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), was honored by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for 35 years of public service.
Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer G. Cato presented Manalad with a plaque of commendation in recognition of the FEO’s assistance under his leadership, particularly in expediting firearms and security clearances for foreign diplomatic missions and visiting delegations.
A native of Angeles City, Manalad is set to relinquish his post as FEO chief and retire from the PNP upon turning 56 on Monday.
A member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Sandigan Class of 1994, Manalad was among the first generation of PNPA-trained officers to serve entirely under the civilian police force created through Republic Act No. 6975. He also became the first Angeleño PNPA graduate to attain the rank of brigadier general.
During his career, Manalad served in various assignments in Angeles City and other parts of the country, and also served as a United Nations peacekeeper in Timor-Leste.
