The National Academy of Sports (NAS) has broken ground for its Student-Athletes Dormitory in New Clark City, marking the third phase of its campus expansion and a major step toward providing Filipino athletes with a dedicated home for training and education.

Led by NAS Executive Director Assoc. Prof. Francis Carlos Diaz, the 12,220-square-meter facility will accommodate up to 400 student-athletes and feature a dining hall and kitchen, laundry and utility areas, recreational spaces, and a roof deck. It is targeted for completion and operation by 2027.

The BCDA Group, led by President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang, joined the groundbreaking ceremony along with NAS Board members CHED Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III, representing Chairperson Shirley Agrupis; DepEd Undersecretary Malcolm S. Garma, representing Secretary Sonny Angara; and Philippine Sports Commission Chairperson Patrick “Pato” Gregorio.

Bingcang said the facility will give student-athletes more time to focus on both their studies and sports programs.

The dormitory is expected to strengthen the support system for young athletes by providing a conducive environment to study, train, recover and pursue sporting excellence.
