The Angeles City Government welcomed officials from Iligan City, Northern Mindanao, to the Angeles City Dog Pound and Animal Care Center for a benchmarking visit on the city’s animal welfare programs and best practices.
Under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Angeles City continues to strengthen initiatives promoting responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and efficient city pound management, making it a model for other local government units.

City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Samson Jr. and Councilor Niknok Bañola, chairperson of the Committee on Animal Welfare, led the discussions, presenting the city’s policies, programs, and operations.
Oza Salinas, head of the Iligan City Veterinary Office, said Angeles City was chosen after evaluating several local governments because of its recognition as a national awardee of the Bureau of Animal Industry and its high standards in animal welfare and city pound operations.
Salinas also commended the warm reception extended by the Angeles City Government, citing the strong support of Mayor Lazatin for animal welfare initiatives.
The benchmarking activity forms part of Angeles City’s continuing efforts to share its successful animal welfare programs and help other local governments enhance their own services and policies.
