The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) have launched the Government Network (GovNet) Project to strengthen digital connectivity among government offices and improve public service delivery.
The project, launched on June 24 at the Best Western Hotel, will connect 47 government agencies, local government units, public schools, and state hospitals through a secure, high-speed fiber-optic network.
SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño said GovNet will serve as the backbone of a unified digital government, enabling faster communication, improved coordination, quicker document processing, and easier access to online services.
DICT Central Luzon Assistant Regional Director Atty. James Francis Villanueva said the initiative reinforces Subic Bay’s position as a competitive investment and innovation hub by providing digital infrastructure alongside its established transport and logistics facilities.
Part of the National Broadband Plan, GovNet offers dedicated fiber-optic internet with bandwidth of up to 10 Gbps, allowing government agencies to share data efficiently while reducing costs through a centralized network infrastructure.
