BATAAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT TO BECOME DATA CENTER, CYBER TOWN

Bataan 2nd District Representative Abet Garcia met with officials from the Bataan Public-Private Partnership and Investment Center, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on February 10 to discuss the conversion of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) into a data center and Morong Cyber Town.

DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. and Architect Henry Mayuga led the meeting, focusing on the project’s potential to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity through various cloud services.

Architect Mayuga presented the master plan for Cyber Town Morong, while Bataan 1st District Representative Gila Garcia emphasized the integration of an ICT Academy under the EGov Bill to enhance digital skills and workforce development.

Bataan Governor Joet Garcia, Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton, and representatives from the Bataan Public-Private Partnership and Investment Center also attended, showcasing strong local government support.

This initiative aligns with Bataan’s push for technological advancement, positioning the province as a leading hub for digital innovation and investment.
