BALANGA CITY — The Mariveles National High School (MNHS) – Poblacion in Bataan has earned global recognition as one of the top 10 finalists in the 2025 World’s Best School Prizes, under the Supporting Healthy Lives category, for its flagship initiative “Changing Lives Through Sports.”
MNHS is the only Philippine school to make it to the international shortlist this year, bringing pride to both Bataan and the entire nation.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Bataan expressed full support for the school’s achievement. “We stand behind Mariveles National High School and encourage everyone to support their inspiring program,” said DepEd Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Armando Capili.
The “Changing Lives Through Sports” program has had a transformative impact on students facing challenges such as bullying, depression, and addiction. Through sports, many have not only overcome personal struggles but have also risen to become national champions, student leaders, and role models. Some graduates have pursued careers in physical education, coaching, and sports development—while the school has continued to see increased enrollment since launching the initiative.
The World’s Best School Prizes, launched by T4 Education in 2022, honor schools that drive positive change in five areas: Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives. The awards are aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Winners will be selected by a panel of international experts, but all finalists are also eligible for the Community Choice Award, determined through an online public vote.

T4 Education launched the prizes in collaboration with partners such as Yayasan Hasanah, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Accenture, and American Express to empower schools worldwide—especially during the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
