BCDA signs agreements for proposed 40-MW LNG plant, underground ICT Network

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Group has signed agreements with Blue Vista Berhad, Westfield Resources LLC, and ComClark to study proposed infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening New Clark City’s energy supply and digital connectivity.

The agreements cover a proposed 40-megawatt liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fired power plant and a common underground information and communications technology (ICT) passive infrastructure network to support the development of the emerging smart city.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU) among BCDA, Blue Vista, and Westfield, the parties will assess the technical and commercial feasibility of the proposed LNG power facility, including grid connections, LNG supply, financing, and regulatory requirements.

The study will help determine the facility’s potential to meet New Clark City’s future electricity needs.

Meanwhile, the MOU between BCDA and ComClark will explore the feasibility of establishing a shared underground ICT infrastructure network for locators and future developments in New Clark City.

Under the agreement, BCDA will provide relevant planning information and access for technical studies, while ComClark will conduct the necessary surveys and assessments.

The proposed projects are expected to help attract investments, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate regional economic development as New Clark City continues to grow into a resilient and sustainable smart city.

The initiatives also support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s priorities of developing sustainable infrastructure, strengthening energy security, expanding digital connectivity, and promoting inclusive economic growth.
