Capitol opens new ERDH Annex, upgraded lab in Lubao

The Provincial Government of Pampanga formally inaugurated the new annex building and tertiary laboratory of Escolastica Romero District Hospital (ERDH) on October 16, marking another major investment in strengthening public healthcare services and expanding access to quality medical care for Kapampangans.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the inauguration, underscoring the provincial government’s commitment to upgrading hospital infrastructure and improving medical services, particularly for residents who rely on government healthcare facilities.

The newly opened annex houses seven wards, two infirmaries, two operating rooms, an Outpatient Department (OPD), a central supply room, and a tertiary laboratory equipped with modern medical equipment.

The additional facilities are expected to increase the hospital’s patient capacity, improve diagnostic services, and expand its capability to accommodate patients requiring surgical procedures and gynecological care.

Joining Governor Pineda during the inauguration were Department of Health Region III Director Dr. Corazon Flores, Department of Social Welfare and Development Region III Director Venus Rebuldela, Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital Medical Center Chief Dr. Monserrat Chichioco, Second District Board Member Atty. Claire Lim, Fourth District Board Member Dr. Kaye Naguit, and ERDH Chief Dr. Sherwin Sarmiento.

Also present were Lubao Mayor Esmie Pineda, Sasmuan Mayor Lina Cabrera, Guagua Mayor Tonton Torres, Lubao Councilor Jay Victorino, provincial department heads, district hospital administrators, and hospital personnel.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Dax Tidula emphasized that the inauguration represents more than the opening and blessing of a new hospital facility, describing it as another significant step toward making essential medical services more accessible to Kapampangans.

The expansion forms part of the provincial government’s continuing healthcare development program under Governor Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, which prioritizes hospital modernization, improved patient care, and stronger public health services across Pampanga.

With the new annex and laboratory now operational, ERDH is expected to serve more patients and provide enhanced medical services, particularly to communities in Lubao and neighboring municipalities.
