Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda personally inspected Sapang Labuan on Tuesday despite heavy rains to assess flood risks affecting parts of Minalin, Guagua, and Sasmuan.

The inspection came after the waterway overflowed near the San Fernando–Sto. Tomas–Minalin Tail Dike, prompting emergency sandbagging to prevent further overflow and protect nearby communities.

Pineda said Sapang Labuan needs continued monitoring and possible widening or deepening to improve water flow and help reduce flooding in low-lying areas.

Water from the waterway flows downstream toward Sasmuan and the Guagua-Pasac River, making continuous monitoring and immediate intervention crucial during heavy rains.

Pineda, together with Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, continues to inspect critical areas amid the rainy weather to help ensure the safety of Kapampangans.
