Floridablanca on High Alert

Floridablanca Mayor Michael Galang convened an emergency meeting with the barangay councils of San Pedro, Anon, Gutad, San Roque, and Sto. Rosario to discuss a contingency plan in case a portion of the dike along the Gumain River in Barangay San Pedro completely collapses.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), around 500 meters of the dike has already collapsed, raising concerns that more sections could give way if water levels continue to rise due to the southwest monsoon, or Habagat.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) warned that four barangays could be affected by severe flooding should the dike fully collapse.

Galang has instructed barangay officials to begin evacuating residents in low-lying areas as a precaution and to ensure public safety.

The local government continues to coordinate with the DPWH and other government agencies to strengthen preparedness and response measures amid the worsening flood threat.
