The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Masinloc, partnered with Gasat Builders and Supplies, Inc. to restore a forest area in Sta. Cruz, Zambales damaged by a forest fire.
A total of 45 volunteers planted 1,000 seedlings of coffee, eucalyptus, and yakal within a 100-hectare National Greening Program (NGP) adoption site in Barangay Guiguis as part of ongoing forest rehabilitation efforts.
CENRO Masinloc Head Donaver Guevarra said the tree-growing activity aims to restore forest cover in areas where previous plantings were destroyed during the dry season fire. He emphasized that continued rehabilitation, maintenance, and protection are vital to ensure the plantation’s recovery and strengthen the forest ecosystem.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government, private sector, and local communities in restoring degraded forestlands and promoting sustainable natural resource management.
Representatives from Gasat Builders and Supplies, President Ramon Magsaysay State University–Botolan Campus, Alpha Phi Omega chapters, and CENRO Masinloc personnel joined the rehabilitation activity.
