The city government led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., in partnership with United States Agency International Development (USAID), on August 19, 2022 is conducting free x-ray services to market goers at Pampang Public Market as the city government strengthens the anti-tuberculosis (TB) measure in the city.
CHO TB Nurse Coordinator Arnel Calaguas and other representatives of USAID were present during the free x-ray services.
Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center, Rural Health Unit III in Barangay Lourdes Sur East and Rural Health Unit VI in Barangay Pulung Cacutud are offering free GeneXpert test to residents as a way to detect tuberculosis.
Free medicines for positive tuberculosis patients are also provided by the city government.
GeneXpert is a molecular TB test which detect DNA in TB bacteria, uses sputum sample and can give result in less than two hours.
World Health Organization (WHO) recommended GeneXpert as initial diagnosis test for individuals suspected of having tuberculosis. (Angeles CIO)
