Gatchalian: Senate committed to timely, transparent, accountability-driven process for 2027 Budget

Senate President Win Gatchalian said the Senate is committed to a timely, transparent, and accountability-driven review of the proposed ₱7.2-trillion national budget for 2027.

Gatchalian made the statement following the turnover of the 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to the Senate.

As committee deliberations begin, Gatchalian said the Senate will prioritize public trust, fiscal responsibility, and timely implementation to ensure that every peso in the proposed budget delivers tangible benefits to Filipinos.

He said allocations for education, healthcare, infrastructure, social protection, and job creation must help drive inclusive economic growth.

Gatchalian also emphasized that the Senate’s final budget output will include strict safeguards for transparency and accountability, building on reforms he spearheaded in the 2026 General Appropriations Act.
