Gov. Delta distributes P19.2-M educational grants to 4,793 Capitol scholars

Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the distribution of P19.2-million worth of educational financial grants to some 4,793 Capitol scholars under the Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP) of the provincial government.

Each student coming from the different districts of Pampanga received P4,000 during the distribution held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center on Monday, June 20.

Governor Delta disclosed that he has appealed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, headed by Vice-Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, to increase the budget to be given to the scholars this year, from P3,000 to P4,000 each.

“We will continue to provide the necessary funding to the educational programs of Governor Delta,” said 3rd District Board Member Ananias Canlas, Jr.

The governor, meanwhile, assured the continuous support of the provincial government to the needs of the students during his term.

“‘Tuluy-tuloy ang programa natin. Hangga’t nandito ako, mga anak, wala kayong dapat ipangamba,” he said.

He also encouraged the 4th-year students to take the civil service examination after graduation to avail job opportunities in the government.

Parents, who attended the distribution, have expressed their gratitude for the continued support of the administration for their children.

“Maraming, maraming salamat po. Binibigyan niyo po ng chance at blessing ang mga batang matatalino at masisipag na mag-aral tulad ng anak ko po,” Tess Catallo, a mother of a 3rd year scholar, said.

According to the Provincial Library, there are a total of 14,113 Capitol scholars who will receive financial assistance for the first semester this year.

Also present during the EFAP distribution were the Provincial Board Members, PDRRMO Chief and Special Assistant to the Governor Angelina Blanco, and Provincial Librarian Jasmine Carla Cordero.
